SAT Prep

The SAT is designed to broadly test a high school student's ability to reason.  For this reason an applicant’s SAT scores weigh heavily in a college’s decision to extend an offer of admission. Your BrightBridge tutor will approach the SAT on many levels. The test’s format will be examined as one source of techniques for maximizing a student’s scoring ability. However, even more attention will be given to strengthening the student’s overall analytical reasoning ability. In this way the student will acquire the exact skills necessary to successfully address any type of question presented in the SAT exam itself. This approach builds confidence and comfort, proficiencies that are essential for obtaining high scores during actual test taking conditions.

SAT II Subject Tests

SAT Subject Tests are uses by colleges to determine the highest level of proficiency obtained by a high school student in a particular subject such as math, science, literature, English, and foreign languages. Because these tests primarily assess topic-specific knowledge, they are also used to determine appropriate course placement for a given student. Not all colleges require SAT Subject Tests, but regardless, high scores in a student’s area of interest make their application stand out from the crowded field of candidates. Your BrightBridge tutor will be your guide in maximizing your scores on these content specific tests.

PSAT

The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT which provides students the opportunity to determine where they need to focus their efforts in preparing for the SAT itself. While the PSAT is not used by colleges in their admissions processes, high scores are relevant in qualifying for a National Merit Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship can open the door to many educational opportunities. Your BrightBridge tutor will help you solidify your strengths and overcome your weaknesses in order to achieve the highest score possible.

ACT

The ACT, like the SAT, is designed to allow colleges to assess a high school student’s qualifications to successfully complete university level coursework. However, because the structure of the ACT differs significantly from that of the SAT, it requires a different approach. Questions are arranged in sections and cover English, science, mathematics, and reading. The test also has an optional writing component. Your BrightBridge tutor will examine with you both the test’s structure and the individual sections’ content in order to insure you have at the ready effective test taking strategies and problem solving skills. Our approach will help you stay calm and confident during the actual test allowing you to fulfill your highest scoring potential.

GRE

The Graduate Record Examination General (GRE) Test measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, vocabulary recognition, and analytical writing skills relevant to the graduate level study of a wide range of humanities and social sciences. Higher scores can be obtained on the GRE by learning how to maximize the skills a student already possesses. As well, the structure of the test lends itself to the development of personalized strategies for increasing scores. Finally, your BrightBridge tutor will teach you time management and other organizational skills essential for bridging any gaps still remaining. The end results are scores that help your application stand out from the rest of the field.

LSAT

The Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) measures abilities considered crucial for success in law school: the reading and comprehension of varied and complex texts, the organization and management of data and effective techniques for eliciting correct inferences and definitive conclusions from that data, the capability to think critically, and the analysis and evaluation of the reasoning and arguments of others. Law schools give scores a prominent place in determining whether or not to admit an applicant into their program. The various sections of the test require specific and personalized strategies in order to ensure a student receives the highest score possible. Your BrightBridge Tutor will teach you specific techniques for the types of questions consistently and repeatedly used by the LSAT and teach you the most effective means of quickly and correctly identifying and answering as many of these questions as possible. He or she will help you determine which questions should be answered first, which saved for the end, how to organize and factually support your essay, and how to stay calm and comfortable during the exam itself.

GMAT

The GMAT exam is a standardized assessment that business schools utilize to measure the intellectual skills and other qualifications of candidates for a MBA or similar advanced degree in business and management. Competitive and prestigious business schools give scores a prominent place in determining whether or not to admit an applicant into their program. The various sections of the test require specific and personalized strategies in order to ensure a student receives the highest score possible. Your BrightBridge tutor will prepare you for each section of the test by developing effective problem solving, time management, and organizational strategies aligned with your learning style and skills. This inclusive approach builds confidence and comfort, proficiencies that are essential for obtaining high scores during actual test taking conditions.

MCAT

The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is a standardized, multiple-choice examination designed to assess the examinee's problem solving, critical thinking, knowledge of science concepts and principles, and writing skills requisite for the study of medicine. Scores are reported in verbal reasoning, physical sciences, biological sciences, and a writing sample. This rigorous test is a key element used by medical schools to determine whether or not to admit an applicant into their program. Your BrightBridge tutor will prepare you for each section of the test by developing individualized strategies designed to take advantage of your learning style and previously developed skills.
